About Raku
Raku is a unique, labor intensive process where pottery is fired in a kiln reaching upwards of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Glazes are applied which are rich in copper, cobalt, manganese, and/or iron oxide.
Upon reaching the desired temperature, the glowing red pottery with molten glazes are removed from the hot kiln with tongs and allowed to briefly cool before being placed into a metal container of newspaper or sawdust. For a moment the material ignites into flame before being covered with a lid to restrict all oxygen. The lack of oxygen causes the flames to smolder; and the hot piece then cools in a smoky atmosphere creating rare and unique patterns of crackles and flashings.

Thank you for visiting BrayRaku.net. Due to the unique process involved in the production of our work, some items may not be available for immediate shipment. We do our best to keep our site up to date with work that is available for immediate purchase and shipment and we apologize in advance for any delay in getting your items to you. In very rare instances a piece may be listed as available but could have been sold offline and not updated in our system. In the event this happens we will notify a customer immediately upon becoming aware of the situation. If they have already completed checkout through our shopping cart system, the customer will be given the option for a refund or completing the purchase as a special order which can take from 4-10 weeks depending on the time of year and our obligation to meet the demand of other orders. If a special order is placed Bray Raku Studio will email the customer pictures of the piece before it is shipped in order to verify it is satisfactory. Due to the spontaneous nature of Raku no two pieces are exactly alike. While we can attempt to match size, shape, and glaze, no two will have the exact crackle or color flashing patterns.
Shipping policy
Shipping rates on our site are set by UPS depending on the weight and dimensions of the product being shipped. Any items being shipped outside of the continental United States will have an additional shipping fee and we ask that anyone outside of the continental U.S. call us for a freight quote.

At Bray Raku.net we respect your privacy and any information submitted by you the buyer will be used solely for the purpose of completing the transaction, delivering the product and addressing any customer service issues.Any information you provide us with regarding your purchase will be used for that purchase only. Out of Stock Items
If a product on our Website is listed as 'Out of Stock', please feel free to call our store to see when the item will be made available. We can oftentimes do special orders.
Return Policy
Our guarantee. Please contact us if you have any problems. We strive for your satisfaction and BrayRaku.net will issue cash refunds in the event that there is damage done to the pottery either during shipping or it is discovered that there are cracks, chips, or other physical defects that customer was unaware of before purchasing the item. If the item was damaged during shipping, Bray Raku Studio will first need to process the claim with UPS. We have done our best to represent the colors, sizes, and shapes of our pieces as accurately as possible. If you are not completely satisfied with our work please contact us within 3 days of receiving the item to discuss how we can fix the problem. We are confident that the colors and textures of our work will be better than the pictures on the site but if for any reason you feel the item you receive is not what you expected or has been misrepresented we will issue a full refund. If within 3 days of receiving a piece and customer notifies us by email or phone that they would like to exchange the piece for another of equal value Bray Raku Studio will exchange the item. Once the returned item is received Bray Raku will ship the exchange item. Local customers may call to request an appointment for an exchange in person.
